Restoring Trust: When Trust Was Interrupted

One Breath — Arrival

Take one breath and notice what your body does when you hear the word trust.

There is no right response.

Awareness is the beginning of restoration.

One Scripture — The Root

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

— Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)

One Thought — The Teaching

Trust is often spoken of as a decision, but healing reveals it as a process.

For many women, trust was not broken by one moment, it was interrupted over time. Interrupted by inconsistency. Interrupted by unmet needs. Interrupted by having to grow up too fast or carry what should have been shared. So when Scripture calls us to trust the Lord with all our heart, it can feel unrealistic or even unsafe.

But restoration does not begin by demanding full trust.

It begins by acknowledging where trust stopped flowing.

When trust is interrupted, we adapt. We lean more heavily on our own understanding, not because we are rebellious, but because we learned that relying on ourselves felt safer than hoping again. Over time, self-reliance can look like wisdom, strength, or responsibility, while quietly disconnecting us from rest.

In the context of Rooted & Restored, trust is not about ignoring discernment or bypassing wisdom. It is about recognizing when control replaced confidence, when guarding replaced openness, and when survival replaced surrender.

Being rooted last week gave us stability.

This week asks a deeper question:

Can I trust what is holding me?

Restoring trust does not mean forcing belief.

It means allowing God to meet us in the places where trust was strained and gently reestablish connection, without pressure, shame, or urgency.

This week is not about proving trust.

It is about letting trust be restored where it was interrupted.
